Number of passengers on American Airlines grew despite bankruptcy

        Bankruptcy protection doesn’t seem like an issue to consumers when flying on a carrier. In fact, passengers flew more miles on American Airlines on January compared to the same month last year. American’s passengers flew 10 billion miles last month, which is up 1.4 percent from the 9.87 billion miles the year before.

American Airlines announces new flights from the Dominican Republic

  American Airlines increased the number of flights per day on routes Miami-Santo Domingo and Punta Cana- Miami. It also joined an aircraft with greater passenger capacity on the route from Santo Domingo to New York. Beginning December 2, American Airlines added a new flight frequency to Miami InternationalAirportfrom Las Americas International Airport José Francisco Peña Gómez in Santo Domingo. The airline also increased the daily frequency during the high season to Miami InternationalAirport from Punta Cana , providing the route three times a day.

American Airlines declares its bankruptcy

    American Airlines, declared the suspension of payments in a Manhattan court to restructure its debt of more than 1,000 million dollars, as reported bye Bloomberg. In a statement the company said it “expects to maintain normal business operations throughout the reorganization process.” The company  which currently has with 78,000 employees, has named Thomas W. Further Horton as its new CEO.

  On Tuesday an American Airline flight reported being hit by a laser near Meacham Airport at 10,000 feet. “This nonsense happens multiple times at night in cities all across the United States” said Lynn Lunsford, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesman, who also cleared out that no one was injured.
