Increased fares for 2012

  Airlines received this new year with increased fares. US Airways and Southwest, both carriers of Philadelphia International Airport, are among the group which are raising fares by as much as $20 along routes. This information was reported by Farecompare. The Farecompare CEO, Rick Seaney said “the hikes were about half as large as systemwide increases usually are.”

Mexico and Puerto Rico, AirTran’s new foreign destinations

        AirTran and Southwest Airlines, which have recently merged, will be adding new routes, including foreign destinations, beginning next year. The airline announced on Sunday that AirTran is adding nonstop services between Fort Lauderdale, Florida and San Juan, Puerto Rico. It will also add routes to Mexico from San Antonio, Texas and from the Orange County, California.
