Additional seating charged to over-sized passengers

Over-weight passengers may have to pay more when travelling on AirTran Airways. The announcement was made by the airline and it will begin on March 1, 2012.

NBC News reports the airline will start considering “costumers of size”. This means that if a person is too large to fit in one seat, the airlines will make the big costumer to buy two seats, therefore not to encroach another person’s seat.

AirTran, which has merged with Southwest Airlines, said that if the flight does not oversell, it will refund the cost of additional seating.
