Allegiant becomes the first commercial flight at Gary in four years

 

 

 

Allegiant Air will begin on Wednesday a twice weekly flight between Gary Chicago International Airport and Sandford International Airport.

Flight will departure from Gary on Sundays and Thursdays at noon, arriving 3:30 pm and will be leaving Orlando on the same days at 9:45 am, arriving at Gary at 11:20 am.

The airport’s interim director said that this route by Allegiant I a “departure from what we’ve had in the past.”

He added, “we had ultra-low cost start up airlines in 2008 and 2007 and they just were not successful in the economy we had. Allegiant is different. With their proven track record and knowing Orlando is somewhere our customers want to fly to, we’re confident it will be successful.”

Allegiant is launching this new service with low cost-fares with round trips at $136.
