American Airlines has added a new link to its travel website that is aimed at gay and lesbian travelers.
Called AAVacations.com/rainbow, the site allows gay and lesbian travelers to book tickets, accommodation, car rental and package tours online to destinations known to be popular or of particular interest to the LGBT community.
Marketing manager George Carrancho said the site was created for more customer convenience and inclusion.
He added: “American Airlines is a leader in championing respect and inclusion for all people. Once again, we are proud to lead the industry as the first U.S. airline with its own vacation package site specifically for this community.”
In addition, people using the site can earn up to 1,000 frequent flyer miles for booking a vacation.
Editor of The Out Traveler, Darren Frei, praised American for its new site, saying it made sense and was a step forward for many.
He told Advocate.com: “Knowing that American Airlines is grounded in a history of pro-gay employment policies, gay and lesbian travelers are likely to give the new microsite a chance.”
