Delta will cut off service between Minneapolis and Pierre

Delta Airlines recently announced that it will stop its service from Minneapolis to Pierre on January 15th.

This cancelation is due to a drop in the passenger numbers, but the travellers say they’ll miss the convenient connection to South Dakota’s Capitol.
Even though, in four week there won’t be any more Delta planes landing at the Pierre Airport.

“I think most people that use this, that do come out here on an annual basis, certainly will miss it especially if there’s no alternatives, absolutely,” Minneapolis traveler Rick Behnke said.

Great Lakes Airlines is the only other air carrier in Pierre. The airline added a third daily flight to pick up some of the passengers being left behind, but those flights only go to Denver.

Pierre Mayor Laurie Gill says the city is working on finding another airline that will replace Delta with daily flights going east, because she believes there is a market for those flights.
