From Barbecue City to Sin City: Allegiant’s new service

Trips from Owensboro to Las Vegas begin today.  Flying between the self-named Barbecue City of the world and the Sin City will get easier with this non-stop service provided by Allegiant Air, twice a week.

Flights will depart on Mondays and Fridays from Owensboro at 12:20 p.m. arriving in Las Vegas at 2:10 p.m. Flights leaving Las Vegas will take off at 6:10 a.m. arriving to Owensboro at 11:35 a.m. All flight times are local.

Allegiant will be starting this service with introductory fares as low as $87 each way. But you must have in mind that they are limited and must be booked by next Wednesday to travel between now and next February 14. Also, the fares aren’t available on all flights.

There are a host of extra fees: A $10.70 Sept. 11 security fee per flight, a $17 “convenience fee;” a $15 fee for booking a flight over the phone; and a checked bag fee of $30 to $35 per bag for up to two bags per person, with higher fees for three or more checked bags.

Those fees push the cost of a round trip with one bag to $290 to $329, not counting taxes.
