Facing mounting competition from new airlines serving Chicago/Rockford Airport, discount airline Hooters Air is considering ending the service.
Initially Hooters officials informed the airport that it would be terminating service effective January 6, 2006, but later backtracked and said it would negotiate with the airport over the possibility of remaining at Rockford.
The Myrtle Beach, South Carolina-based airline flies to Atlanta, Denver, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach and St Petersburg/Clearwater from Chicago/Rockford.
On November 13, 2005 United began serving Rockford with 13 flights a week between the city and Denver. Discount airline Allegiant has also revealed plans to fly to Rockford from its hubs in Las Vegas and Orlando.
