A recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics (B.T.S.) found that Salt Lake City International Airport has the highest on-time rate of the 33 largest airports in the U.S.
The figures showed that 84 per cent of flights arriving in Salt Lake City were on time and 85 per cent of flights departing the airport left on schedule.
According to the B.T.S. ‘on-time’ is defined by a flight arriving or departing within fifteen minutes of its schedule.
Department of Airports spokeswoman Barbara Gann attributed Salt Lake City’s success to strong relationships with airlines, which helps streamline operations.
Houston and Cincinnati also fared well in the B.T.S. study, whereas Newark and Philadelphia had some of the worst punctuality ratings.
